Moving Down the Road

Down the driveway and on our way from St. Martins.

 outside Saint John

Driving through Fredericton

Arrived  and unloading into the shed

Happy we had our 4 cds. of  fire wood stacked and dry for the winter

Here's John with  another couple loads in our "Beverly Hillbillies" moving trailer

Well. here we are. At our little old house.  Hope we don't have to do that again, ever. Huge, Huge job.
I am ready to stay in one place for the rest of my life!!!!!!

It has taken a while to sort through things and it is still an ongoing task.. and it will be for a while. trust me.
I did manage to carve out a little niche to carry on making jewelry and sending it out. It was a almost a pleasure to hide away in the studio and not look at the stacks of boxes and belongings piled up to the ceiling around the little house.  still lots of sorting to do, but a lot has been purged and given away in the last month. Whew!
Still, because we chose a house that has been and will be, a project, for a while yet, we have more things to finish up before the winter.  so carry on, we will, till we're done.

John is hankering to get his woodworking tools out of his future painting studio.

But to finish off for now.... Here's a few designs we did this summer.

Carved bone skull and textured steel... Handmade at Desideratum, $25

Peridot and Sterling Silver. Lots of movement.  $30. ...

These "Book and Mug" earrings are part of an order, on their way westward to beautiful Banff, AB. Thank you, Richard Norton at "About Canada" Gallery.
...background mug was created by the talented Helen Stanley, New Brunswick Potter.

  Sterling Silver Domed Squares...

...Small ones are approx. 3/8" sq. $18

...background is a pattern from my sketchbook in gouache... really love the combination of those colours together
Opaque soft green glass with sterling wrapped Amethyst (matched as close as possible as all are unique in size). handmade, one-of. $35.

Mama and Baby  $25.pr

Welcome home! Lovely new place by the way. Having moved myself for the first time in almost ten year this year, I understand how you feel about moving. It is a lot of work and it is stressful.

You Did it! As fabulous as your other home was, I love the simplicity and charm of your "new house" even more. I think we both have a penchant for wonderful worn spaces; this is great, I am happy for your move. Jeri

Welcome to your new environs, Gwen. May you and John be blessed in this next chapter of your very creative lives. Love the new work your doing, and I especially admire the way you've chosen to showcase your jewelry on items like guitars and cups.

Can't wait for a "tour". Moving is such a chore - We were in one house for 30 years and had to declutter, give away so much ...which felt great....and we went from almost 4000 sq ft to 1100 - so it was a BIG challenge. I love it and rarely ever look back.

I love your jewelry! So so creative.

The area looks beautiful from what i can see of the photos.

Hi Sandy!! Your downsize "size" was almost exactly the same as ours... with the amount we have to finish in this old place it will quite some time before any tour.. still feels like we are camping out. I remember what a friend told me once referring to the amount of stuff people have a tendency to collect and gather unwittingly.. "you should have to move every 5 years whether you need to or not" . Good advice... except for the moving part,ha
Nice to hear from you and hope all's well xo

What a lovely surprise to look at your blog this morning Gwen, I can almost smell the apple pies.. They need a little Cornish clotted cream to go with them.. I don't know if you can get it/make it.. Delicious

Your new home looks delightful and I can't wait for progress photo's in the new year..

Your blog is always a delight. Merry Christmas to you both ~ Julie x

Hi Julie, Lovely to hear from you. I have never tried Clotted cream but see it mentioned in many British cookbooks and blogs. Must be some around here somewhere as there are many, many folks here from Great Britain.

We have been steadily plugging away at rebuilding this old little place. John wishes he had a bigger spot for his painting studio but as of now, it is still his woodworking room and full of sawdust, lumber and a big mess. The light at the end of the tunnel is shining so bright tho... so there's hope we will finish it and start living again, ha.
Hope you are fully settled into your new home and it is the way you want it.. Merry Christmas!!!

Our home is like everyone else's, a work in progress..
