Proverbs

I was caught by the line, "A Fox knows much..." 1640 by George Herbert.  He wrote a large collection of Proverbs and much can be read into them. Here is a list of them. This fellow thought about things.

And also  John Heywood, with his proverb, "None so deaf..." 1546.  He wrote many  you will recognize here

Proverbs (or sayings) are Clever, sometimes Amusing, always Thought provoking... it makes you realize there are a lot of minds out there that put 2 and 2 together, write it down and let others in on it.

Proverbs entertain us, warn us and try to make us wiser.... in a gentle sort of way.

  4. VERY FUN, Gwen. I love the swirls of lettering and colors. I didn't know about these Herbert Proverbs. I've been reading a lot of sustaining reading recently--needing a lift. I’m needing to take an extended digital sabbatical due to health reasons. But I hope to be around when I can. :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

  9. Thank you Carol, I think it's so interesting that ideas written 500 years ago are still pertinent today and they're hard to improve upon.

  10. I've always avoided doing lettering because I feel it has to be perfect and proportional and all that. But seeing how you've had so much fun with lettering is wonderful. And proverbs are a great way to give it a go I guess :)

  11. Priya, I am not one that likes following too many rules... Playing and experimenting is what attracts me.

  16. I remember the day I read the following quote. It was several years ago but it was a saying that took root in my brain. It said, "It is impossible for anyone to learn what they think they already know" by Epictetus. It is so very true.
