From Ruth's Still Life

I was inspired to do this little sketch when I saw a delicate photograph of beautiful tulips in a quirky purple vase... with a parrot for a handle... So Cheery...

It was Spring... Color ... and Fun... all wrapped up in one...

I used watercolor... Grumbacher soft pastels and conte... and worked it fairly quickly...

Thank you, Ruth ... for the beauty...

... some of my other Paintings...

this is approx. 3½" x 5" on watercolor paper

I don't know Gwen, I haven't seen the photo you're talking about but this painting is beautiful and alive with a spirit all it's own; transcending it's inspiration so that it is in itself inspiring!!!
i LOVE it!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm beaming from ear to ear and exclaiming to Don and he doesn't know what I'm talking about, "parrot vase??" he asks.

This is just gorgeous!!!! Oh it pleases me so much I just can't tell you. The combination of media too makes it so rich and full of texture.

Oh I love it I love it I love it.

Thank you, Gwen, it is such a tremendous honor that you painted my photo. Can you tell I'm tickled??

That is very nice. I love the colors and the textures. I can't believe how small it is. Believe Ruth that she is giddy with happiness.

Gwen, the colors here remind me of the phase our daughter went through (do all girls go through it) of loving pink and purple. I know I went through it, my favorite crayon colors were orchid and carnation. I have heard that pink is a color used in therapy, such as hospital walls, because it is so soothing and healing.

hey you know what Ruth, I went through a purple phase too when i was 16...
Well I must confess...I still like it...

Oh me too! I should have said that. Pink and purple are still very appealing to me.

ohhh I'm all about purple, always have, always will be...and zebras too! I should paint a purple zebra when I'm an old woman. I guess that will be happening soon...ha!
