Max

A quick sketch of my son, Max, after a day of biking 'round the village.

Most often... not without his red hoody...

....always... tousled hair astray...

...his set of wheels...

and a hot, hazy, breezy July afternoon.......

approx. 8½" x 12" ..... uni-ball vision waterproof pen in ringed sketchbook

Do you find as they get older, you need to sketch quicker...or is it the other way around???
Lovely lines Gwen...
So, hoodies are a global fashion statement :)

I love the line work. Whenever the sketch books of an artist is on display i want to see them. What were they really thinking. Beautiful passes of the pen.

Hey Jo, Fun! I have to get him when he is worn out.
oh yeah, he has to have his hoody... and it is getting threadbare. I had to sneak it away to fix the holes!

..........

Thanks Bill, ... I really love peeking into artists sketchbooks, and lives, too!

I do love line drawings. From what I've seen of Max, you caught his look. Again, he reminds me of my friend Inge's son before he cut his hair short.

The porch is so beautiful. What you and John did designing the boards, both the floor and the ceiling, it must be very soothing to sit there and look out at the view 180 degrees.

Is that your sketch book on the chair arm?

Thanks, Sandy and Sharon. We came across the old rocker last year at the Giant Flea Market they have every year in Sussex, NB... It had sat in a fellows barn for years and was covered with tons of black sooty dirt... but it looked like it needed a home.. he only wanted $10 or $20 bucks for it.... so we found a way to cram it in the car...

.............

Ruth, It is mesmerizing sitting out there.. every day I shake my head and say, "I can't believe we live here"!!

Yes that's my sketch book lying there on the arm of the old chair .. this is the time of year we use the verandah the most.. so hot at times... good to relish a bit of shade...
I know I should practice sketching more .. if only the day was longer.. do I say that too much?

hello Gwen: thanks for your comments on my blog. I love your blog--not just the images and the setting; the art and soul of the attitude. A beautiful place to live (conceptually and literally).

mansuetude is so right about the art and soul here, not just the images and setting.

No, you don't say it too much. Even if you didn't say it, I would feel it - when it comes to you, and your creative energies.

Love the hair (and what a view you have from that porch!). I love seeing sketches and artists notebooks...in quick sketches to see which details were focused on, important, or how familiar the subject appears to have been. So interesting. Lovely sketch.
