Good Heavens!
More magic.
My month came and went astonishingly quickly. I am left reeling by all that happened in so short a time.
You appear to have more to show for it, than I.
I hope your life is as rewarding, from your perspective, as it appears to be to an outside observer.

What a lovely post; just snaps of living, really. I like the painting too and the little furkid! A month passes so quickly when you're having fun!

What a wonderful studio. Amazing how you and your husband combine the old with the new, and that, for me, is what makes your designs so special. Your space has a bathroom so you must be heating it with a wood stove i would guess. I look forward to more photos, love the primitive cupboard.

my girlfriend bought the coolest old school house chalk board from a school auction. I looks like mission style.

Beautiful to honour the specialness of seemingly ordinary moments along the way that might otherwise pass in a blur of activity.

I enjoyed a lengthy and rich visit here today. Thank you Gwen. The first image is especially enchanting.

And from the Desiderata today these particular words stood out for me; "Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself..."

You have such an amazing eye and sensibility Gwen. What a wonderful combination of photos - a second (or third or fourth?) career as a photographer is awaiting you. . . I also love John's painting.

Scrolling thru your pictures reminded me of reading a gentle poem. Lovely! So glad you're enjoying your new space after such a lot of hard work.

Each photograph of each scene speaks Gwen and Desideratum. The heart stones are wonderful. It all is.

I would recognize John's painting style anywhere . . .

Hi All... things around here seem a little more sensible now...

Anet we went down to walk the beach early this morning.. first warm sunny day in a while and more little Heart-stones had to come home with me...

Hi Crow... Why does time go by so quickly.. When I was a kid hours and minutes seemed to last forever ... now I turn around and a month has gone by.. Why is that so?.. do we recognize more? or do we fill our lives up to the brim...

Alaine maybe that's it.. it has been fun!!

Pamela, he really is a pirate too... or a little thief... loves to steal the toys and bones from the other dogs and take them to his stash...

Jennifer, Robyn and DD... Thanks for making it all worthwhile!!!

Seth and Priya, its always hard to choose.

Thanks Chris, it does feel good at last!!!

Guillaume, Thanks, I always thought their was so much beauty to be experienced in simplicity...

Hi Cathy... Yes we have had the little woodstove glowing on a few damp cool days.. felt cozy... wanted to pull our chairs right up close... The old homemade cupboard is really cool... parts of it are made from old cheese crates!! they never wasted much back then..

Lynn, You said that very well.. and that blur happens quite often!

Hi Leslie.. so glad you were part of my world for a while.. please come anytime... I really love the Desiderata.. It always makes me feel calm, to appreciate things, tells me not to give up.. and sends me on as if everything is going in the right direction.. it just makes me feel all-around good!!!

Hi Debbi, You are too kind... playing with images are just too much fun...

Julie and Kathi, we are really enjoying it... so much smaller than a real house ... and it only has to be about Art!! Yeah!!

Joanna, I love it.. I'm flattered.. Thank you!!..

Hi Ruth, Thanks. Hope I'm not getting too predictable.. There are some local artists that feel inclined to give John their personal critiques on his painting... their styles, methods and subject matter are very, very different... he lets them talk .. ponders it.. then keeps going down his own road...

I like the sharing of moments... thanks. And I'm ready for a cup of tea. Would be great if I could pop over to the new place to drink a cup and browse the beautiful work. Maybe someday! At least we're on the same coast of the same continent! And that's saying something considering most of the bloggers I follow.
Fall blessings and congrats on the lovely new space.

This is a lovely little posting, Gwen, one that allows the images to speak for themselves. I love the simplicity and beauty of common things like doorknobs and stones. I also like John's artwork.

I just spent a charmed spell of time wandering through a garden in the fog. At the end of the lovely path I could barely make out some sort of curious followers widget thing. I couldn't resist the temptation to click on it and ... now here I am.

A beautiful and enchanting blog you have here, Gwen. I'll be back ...

Gwen Buchanan said...

Vallerianna, wouldn't I love to have you over for tea and some creative arty idea sharing!!! the best to you...

Thank you George, sometimes I only think in pictures... yes, simple, and functional are what I like... I'll pass this along to John..he will be much flattered.

Hello Lorenzo, I'm glad you never became lost out in that fog.. some days it can be pretty dense... please come and visit often... and stay for tea too...

Yes time flies when your having fun doesn't it?! Lovely images Gwen. I too collect heart shape rocks, they are around the center of the kitchen table. I don't think I planned to collect them, I just found some, and was given some as well.

You don't post very often....but when you do ....the wait is so worth it!

Gwen Buchanan said...

Thank you girls... a big wind and rain storm came through today and to our relief, no leaks.. Yeah!!
John has lugged many trailer loads of rocks home the past week.. and has begun the rock wall around the north side.. I'll post photos on that soon...

You have this wonderful gift for making me involuntarily liftiing a hand to touch the things you portray, to have them adorn my spaces, to inspire me to work harder to give vent to my own creativity. I too love the irregular and simplistic, the weathered and worn that tell stories.

You are so right, all moments hold memories. And they never ask, will they be good ones, or bad ones? They just do. Thanks for coming by.

lovely post...i would be thrilled if your gallery was near to me...it just looks a perfect place to visit...often

Gwen Buchanan said...

Lizzie, I think the old things seem to tell us something about the history of living... rather fun to add more tales to their story... I can only imagine living in a home with as much history as yours and the love you are adding to it

Annell, you're so right about the "good ones and the bad ones"... all a moment in time left for us to ponder when the nerve is struck again.

Sally, I would be thrilled if you visited too!! it is always better with company!
