Cat 3

Looking up to see what's coming down...
A New Year..
Snowy outside... crackling fire inside.
 without pressures of deadlines...
I like that... NO... I love that!  ... the no deadlines part... not the snowy part...
To be perfectly honest I wish the snow would just disappear.... anyway that won't happen with any amount of wishing...
but now there is this free time that is presenting itself...
oh and I have been impatiently waiting for it... let me tell you...
seems that I've been waiting for it for months...
now everything's saying, "Pick Me, Pick Me"...
brush, pen, chalk, websites, ink, paint, time, pliers, wire, beads, books, dogs, coffee, tea, music, rearranging stuff, getting distracted......... gotta... just... pick... one.
Ok... close eyes... point... pick up a tool... I don't care what it is, I just want to get started
  sit down and content myself.
... this January free time thing is hard to get used to.
But it's Good!

A rather familiar looking cat friend!

Oh, I hear you... I have this week and next still off from teaching. WAS going into the studio today, but am not feeling well, so, lots of tea and soup. So, the universe might have picked my winter break activity -rest, rest and rest!

I love all cats and I love that cat.

There is a certain amount of pressure to not waste precious free time isn't there?! It is so hot here in January that I tend to do something quiet like catching up with my reading or sketching ideas for my carvings. The book pile stacks up during the year and come January we have a reading marathon.

Thanks my dears! and loving hearing how you handle it.
I don't know why this always happens .. some sort of hesitation comes with this free time.. must be a thought in the back of my head that says i want to do them all but can only start with one and afraid I won't be able to have time enough to do any of them the way I want.. maybe 8 arms is the answer... no, I think it is the slowing down adjustment after one has been very busy and fully occupied... yes, slowing down and picking one at a time is the answer... but let ourselves truly absorb into each one and enjoy thoroughly... could call it "Slow Art".

Ah, kitty love... I like how you've really captured well the feel/texture of fur here. Wishing you a SUPER-CREATIVE 2013, Gwen! ((HUGS))

Gwen, your cat is beautiful. Glad you have lots of free creative time. I can relate to the feeling of so much you want to do that you have to narrow it down and pick one thing. I'm getting use to having snow on the ground. I prefer no snow but it sure is beautiful.

I'm glad you have some free time Gwen.... I know I don't like to jump to anybody else's time constraints...even if I don't do things for sale that have deadlines and such... I prefer to do things on my own time and more or less if and when I feel like it. Oh, alright... discovered..... lazy and selfish....I admit it then..... but, it is nice .... eventually you may come to love it too.....

Today I'm going to make a great tasting stew with dumplings... and bake some biscotti...mmmm.... and .... I'm running low on bread too...so maybe a couple loaves of that as well.

We have plenty of snow and cold...so perfect baking days .... and now that my oven is installed and working ...I WANT to use it. I so missed having it for all those months .... all I want to do every day is bake now...

Thanks Sandy, I'm starting to get into the hang of it again and I have nice big mess made in the (former cleaned up)studio to show for it.. funny thing how it seems I have to get every last thing out to one job..

BumbleVee, Oh I love it all right, it is having to put it all away that makes me crazy! haha.. but it can all stay out for a while so that's fine.
I made 2 loaves of bread today too
with raisins.. It never lasts long here. I am so glad you are able to cook in your new kitchen now. That is how I felt when we built our kitchen years ago and my sink sat on saw horses for Christmas.
