Ginger Cat

"Ginger Cat" ...pen and watercolour, in my sketchbook
Research says for every 4 male ginger cats there is only one female ginger cat... it has to do with the genes... the orange color is produced due to the presence of the pigment "pheomelanin", which produces fur colors in the range of red to cream.
This pigment is also found in human hair with these colorations.

We have a Ginger she cat (neutered) she is also tailless (accident) and is allergic to penicillin, which I believe is quite common with ginger cats. Squeak is about half the size of a normal cat and a little demon at times !

Mel, a little demon huh? ...she is trying to make up for her size.

I didn't know that about ginger cats, but I always love your art - cats or not, ginger or not. And I love your calligraphy too.

Now that is two things I've learned about cats today. I too have a ginger girl. I thought of all the beautiful cats we've had why did the plain jane choose to live in the house with us? Now she's even more special :).

Gwen, How great to "see" you again. I have had so many cats in my life, but only 2 were orange; those gingers are pretty hard to come by. I make up for it by acquiring orange chickens, not quite the same as a purring puss, but very colorful and funny! Jeri
