Wine and Goblet

The roses in my garden are in full bloom... They are irresistible... in beauty and fragrance... the air is filled with their offerings... one of my favourite times of year...

After walking in the garden... I went down to the beach... I found a feather... a beautiful delicate wispy gray... tangled in some seaweed ...blown there by the breezes or pushed there by a wave...

I loved the combination of the two... so I used them for the background of this shot of our Fun little "Wine and Goblet" earrings...

We have been making this design for several years now...

Detail of the Goblet... The patina and texture varies with every piece...

Our Sterling Silver and Copper "Wine Bottle" lies on another find from the seashore... a Northern Moon Snail shell...

...Patterns of past barnacles... which acted as a resist in the passage of time... created an earthy, mottled texture on its surface... that I could not resist...

Approx. 1½" long , Limited Production

...to our Desideratum Art Jewelry Whimsical Collection

The "earthy, mottled texture" of the shell is so much like the patina your processes create on your earrings.......both surfaces feel complex and ancient........beautiful!

The wine and goblet pair are fun!! I do enjoy a glass of wine, oh... about once a month.
Would you please show us a tour of whats blooming around your place? I just love your home inside and out!!! I'd love to see your roses and your garden:)

Your earings are great fun and I love how you have set them out with the petals and feather.

Sometimes I think you must channeling Louis Nevelson. There is never a reason not to emerse in the art of bringing the everyday to fruit. You do it so well.

Gwen you have presented these so beautifully in the photos. I would love your earrings but am very allergic to metals - I just adore the teapot set!
Your idea of earthiness sits well with me - your jewelery is indeed a beautiful copy of this theme.

Hey... Thanks so much Sharon, Anet, Robyn, Sandy, Bill and Janice... I really appreciate all of your responses .. I like what you notice.. and I am always inspired by you!!
Bill, I don't know about Louis Nevelson.

Great idea Anet... actually the other day I was out and about clicking some shots of the blooms... how did you know????

Louise-I didn't spell her name right in my post. A female artist who never achieved what she deserved. Google should bring up a ton of stuff. Loved shadow boxs and chance. A powerful influence on my work.

oh Thanks Bill, very cool... thanks for pointing me in her direction... I'll check her out...

You are so good at picking out your earring motifs! I like how they complement each other rather than always match. I agree with Sharon that they look like something from an archaeological dig.

Beautiful photography - you're very talented. Love the wine-themed jewelry too! (we're big wine fans)

And the glass you chose to complete the door in the last post - perfection! That is what really makes that doorway.

I too would love to see the roses.

The beauty of erosion in the shell and incorporated into your designs is irresistible.

Are the petals from two different roses? The colors appear differently in the photos, but maybe it's the light and camera that changed it. Just gorgeous! I went walking through the rose garden at MSU yesterday with a friend, and they are at peak now here too.

"Northern moon snail" - what a beautiful name, my goodness.

Lovely post.

Thanks Don, This pair of earrings comes from our whimsical line, of which there are about 30... most all of them are mis-matched... for fun!

some of our customers who are teachers(ladies, of course)tell us they love wearing them and getting the children's attention...the kids are always saying "but teacher your earrings don't match!
..............

Thank so much J, I'm glad we were able to come across that glass in our search. It is so exciting to build a house!

Hi Ruth,I was taking pictures of the roses again yesterday.. We are getting rain today, so I hope it doesn't knock off all their petals.

Aren't you observant! The pictures are of the same rose... the first one was taken on a northern windowsill and the third one with the goblet, on the kitchen table with southern light.. interesting to see the difference it makes... I'm having so much fun experimenting with that camera...

That is when we first met; when I was just deciding to buy a new camera and I really appreciated your advise and suggestions!!

Thank goodness for that camera, which shows us slices of what you do and who you are.
