To Everything, There is a Season.......

The field has turned golden on the bluff near our home...
.... and I am lost in it...

At this moment in time.... I am reminded of this song

...

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear its not too late

...

I believe it was adapted from a passage from the Book of Ecclesiastes...

Oh Gwen, I swear if I lived there I would never get anything done! With all the beautiful scenery, I would just stare out the window for hours. Or sit in the meadow or on the beach or on the porch...
Great song!

Sharon, It has a way of sticking in the globe of a head and going round and round...

Anet that would be perfect, we could do it together, as I seem to spend more time sitting and looking lately... I would enjoy your company!

mansuetude...
Your smile says much...

ahh ... "mite" in proper context is "might"

such a gift!

Oh Gwen,
I was hoping you might fire off a few shots in diverse directions to let us see what you see.
Autumn is a season for reflection, there is a stillness and heavyness in the very air and a field heavy with seed gives that feeing of being in the ninth month , or fruit about to drop...
I love that song too..

mansuetude... just a particle of dust on a hair of a "mite"...

.....

arija, I always find it hard to shift from a hectic, rushing time to such a quiet time.. ... It feels the same way with seasons
...it seems as if everything is dampening down.... I think I'll have to learn to adapt quicker...

My o my......... You are a beautiful writer... I know I use the word "beautiful" probably too many times but your manner of telling a story is Beautiful! ...the way you described Autumn... that is exactly what it is.... I could sit in the dark and see it....

Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, life affirming, abundant in nature, ...all good.

I had similar thoughts this weekend, Gwen.

I went out and sat in the amber light of our meadow a few times.

I love yours there on a hill, with the lone pine, the sea below. I would love to drag a chair or blanket out there with you! Absorb that sun and warmth while you can, eh?

Gwen Buchanan said...

So descriptive of nature, sandy..

It is hard not to, isn't it Serena! It is as if we need one extreme to make us fully appreciate the other...

Ruth, Another spectacular fall morning, bright, warm with a bit of a breeze to push your hair in your eyes...
Nature's changes have a way of telling us to ponder and also intensely observe the present...

While it is here, I'll soak up some sunshine for you... and everyone. Wish you were here...

you get smaller everytime! :) How do you do that??

i was just visited by some crows screaming bloddy murder... no... but they made me think of yours--

the dust mite thing is making me think of the jars in the Beckett play on my blog--in which case the chewing mite somehow has become consciousness, or mind, eating its way through experience... chomp chomp... :) (a large leap, but my own)

i wonder what my jar of clay/dust would be whispering endlessly as my perceived truth (if that hell existed)...

anyway--Arija's way of seeing the grasses of autumn is so new to me. so amazingly altering of thought...thanks Arija.

the way your piano made you "know" better your grandmother, similiarly sharing your photos here (your witnessing) helps me I think know mine better--

it opens up a sense of that wonder she carried. Thanks... mighty mite. Or are you dust now, or pollen, or soon you'll be ether, the sunlit air? Anything's probable.

Gwen, I would be lost in your field too.I love your beautifully balanced image of it, stunning photo.
Great song...I had no idea were it originated from!
I have enjoyed reading your comments too. Lot's of interest going on here as well :)

So the ravens do not want to go peacefully into that dark night!! I do not blame them ... were they crying for change? or just some supper... I wish I could talk crow...

oh the play... what an experience.. repeating as in a bad dream.. no rest.. as with a fever... if they could have moved they would only have tossed restlessly and unending... how agonizing...

who knows what tomorrow will expose... I wonder.. would we want to know?... could we take it?.. is it better this way?... will we strive?...

Thank you for your wonderful thought-inspiring words...
tumblewords, indeed!

Another perfect fall day Gwen...you must be finding it as difficult as I am to get to indoor chores. I think we have enough outdoor work to last till snowfall... the little red truck is earning her keep! I keep finding reasons to turn over dirt, separate perennials, plant stuff...a last crack at gardening before the looong freeze.

Gwen Buchanan said...

Jo .. isn't it a wonder that nature leaves things for us to find, if we only look... I always enjoy the photos you discover around you ..

I never realized where the words originated either till i did a bit of research.. makes one think about how people thought a long time ago and that we are not that different after all these years...

Thank you!

Gwen Buchanan said...

Kathi I'm sure your little red truck will be your man Friday!

you're so right, I kept being pulled out the door by an invisible force that kept saying.. soak me in...

on what tomorrow might bring?

If its anything like today, I CAN"T WAIT! ;)

process, its like flight!
sweet dreams

Perfect words for this time of year.

Mansuetude, Well today brought all Canadians to the voting booth to see who will lead the country... or try to lead the country.....
Will it be a surprise?.. definitely for me.

Thanks so much Denise...

Pamela, rather a balancing act... isn't it?

mansuetude said...

ahh.. do you have more than two candidates to pick from at this point? I don't know how to vote this year!

I learned a bit about colonization of Kenya today by British and how it all blew up into hell, via the continued manipulation of and restricting of the people there. There are so many parallels of disrespect towards others, forever... google-ing "Colonization" is like digging a pit through ugly history...Yes, a cave might be a haven... with a pillow. :)

Hope you have a good outcome from your election.

What a beautiful moment in time you have shared, Gwen... I love the verse as well and your connection to the nature of your world... Roxanne

I didn't decide till this afternoon... we have two main parties... Liberals, and Conservatives, there are quite a few more with the NDP and Green leading the pack of the underlings...

It is too bad that powerful countries can't leave other populations to their own cultures...

Power corrupts.. we need equality to lie our heads on.....

Shayla said...

*Ahhh!* What a beautiful view!

mansuetude said...

We DO "need equality to lay our heads on" and its beautifully said ... I still like my pillow, can i have both please???

So, a beautiful day!!

Gwen Buchanan said...

Thank you Roxanne.. I know how much you care for the nature that surrounds you.. I'm glad you could share mine too...

Shayla... The breaking of dawn reflected off the bay, is worth being up and waiting for...

Equality pillows all around... An Absolutely amazing day....Funny how every day that is beautiful, surprises me...

i am browsing through your blog right now (a break from mundane household chores), and i found this post. i've posted the same song too, only i didn't know it was a song, but i knew it as one of my favourite passages from the Bible.

i'm just thrilled to see your version of it, picture and all!

Isn't it strange that particular passages of writing created down through time... continue to allow us to relate to them as if they were created on the spot and uttered from our own mouths... that very instant...

They are just simply enduring, aren't they...

pRiyA said...

You put that so well. Yes, these passages are so enduring and personal.
