Earth Laughs In Flowers

FLOWERS ... are coming to life...

...the dark ones have carbon from fusing, the bright ones are waiting to be fused...

FLOWERS

 All... in... little... rows...

 But in this northern clime...
Only on my workbench... for now...
It has been a cool spring.

...still waiting ...
for my earth dwellers to burst forth their faces...
I think of rhymes...

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and scallop shells, (Fundy, you know)
And pretty maids all in a row.

*well not quite, but the Daffodils are trying... soon, yes very soon
... about 8" tall now and  a hint of yellow can be seen through the green*

... a little water may help.

The Flower and Watering Can earrings...
One of the fruits of our labors from this past work session.

... Handmade, Copper/Sterling Silver, textured, forged, antiqued... approx. 1 ¾" from the top of the earwire to the bottom of the earring.

Wow, so we can comment again? Great! I missed doing it. I love how you turn simple objects into artifacts. Those pieces of metal take life.

Oh Mel, that is very cute!! Bzzzz... Thanks!

Hi Guillaume, I have had enough time in the Hermit cave to last a good long while...

Nice. I am so glad someone is creating and the flower and watering can is a great idea.
I've been so busy trying o keep things repaired and getting things to grow I've barely had time enough to scratch.

I love these earrings! (I wore them the other day.)
They are perfect when in the mood for Spring and spring planting:)
Now, if only Spring would cooperate, we had snow this morning...sigh.

OF, You have been gardening up a storm and I have been real jealous... but you must know what they say about an itch that is not scratched... well I'm not sure if there is a saying like that but there should be.... ps. send Anet and I some of those warm temperatures.

Oh Anet, I am so happy that you still wear them!!! Thank-you!
We had a crazy snow flurry too... fast, furious and gone... like it was in a hurry to get somewhere... hope it stays there.

You are so industrious! What a lot of work you have done while you were waiting for the daffodils to raise their shining golden heads.

I am glad of our autumn, it gives one so much energy after our enervating hot summer.

Love the little watering can.

Soon enough you will be pulling weeds... like I did this past weekend.

Oh wow! We can comment again!

They are precious -- all that in such a tiny size - wonderful!

Like others, I am glad to be able to comment again, Fiber-Cyber-Friend!

Arija, I am not a traveler so I must occupy myself with things around me.. but I like it that way. I bet you look forward to fall as much as I crave summer....

Steven... pulling weeds!! well I am yearning for warm days so much I think I would even enjoy pulling a few weeds about this time of year... now you know the cold air has gotten to me to ever wish for that... take care.

Morna I remember once a while back when I posted a picture of a little coffee pot earring and you said it reminded you of a somewhat "frisky squirrel"... it still makes me laugh.. I can just imagine a lady going with a squirrel in heat on the side of her head... but maybe I should market them that way ... might pick up a whole new segment of customers... hahaha.

You make me laugh with that memory! Yes, that little coffee pot was the essence of SPRING! A very healthy fella. Hahaha.

Well ... hello Ms Gwen!
So nice to see you posting again.
My you have been a busy girl ... Love these new creations ... very lovely and perfect for spring ... which is getting here slowly ... we are definitely getting our share of April showers ... and it's encouraging to see some green starting to show in my beds.
Hugs ... Marie

Hellooooo...so good to see you back! :~)

You have been doing wonderful work. It is still the 'book and mug' earrings for me though. I've promised myself a pair before this year ends!

Wishing your Spring to arrive post haste. Our April is being incredibly kind and we are relishing this warmth and growth.
Best wishes to you and your loved ones :~)

The very best to you too, Helen... yesterday we took advantage of the cool and overcast weather to do some transplanting.. we dug up extra lilacs, wegelia, roses and angelica from our house gardens and planted them down around the studio. sure do hope they take.

Shelley said...

Yes please Dearheart :) Love them! Black Rose and I both do! Can't wait to get down....soon :)

Oh, I love what happens when you get creative-busy. Gwen, these are lovely. I wear my coffee/book earrings all the time...now I know what I must have next.

Gwen Buchanan said...

Thanks Shelley and Black Rose.. the beaches are missing your footsteps.. and I think the waves are saving their best beach glass for your return.

So pleased to hear that Deborah.. the book is perfect for you as a writer. I'm sure you are formulating your next book already... Your "Sanctuary" was such a success!!

The earth has gone from a broad grin to a giggle here flower-wise. I'm anticipating a really good chuckle by Mother's Day. Your work is inspiring and gives me a sense of hope!

I love all of your whimsical jewelry - it's so much fun. It took me a moment to identify the "watering can"! I hope you are showered in flowers very soon. My tulips are opening as I write. (I'm also glad to be able to comment again).

Gwen Buchanan said...

Lord W, we are seeing changes ... the daphne is in full bloom and it smells heavenly!!! I wish I could bottle it and post it here for everyone!

Hi Debbi, Hope all is well with you!!
yes, it probably takes a few seconds to discern the image we were intending but I think that makes it fun... a little bit of whimsy... oh and the daffodils have just opened... Yes!!!
