Hands 8

Reach 2    by Gwen Buchanan

To reach out with purpose... whether arm's length or far as your mind can fathom...
For that shoulder to grasp, to turn around, to have them see what you see, fully in their mind.
...mind to mind....how much easier it would be.

I sure hope someone is working on this.

I am so glad you can do that and that you share.
As for "seeing what I see" often it would not be a good thing for others because on some occasions it is crazy awful. Those who may be working on it are not doing it to increase understanding I'm afraid.
A few years ago I started taking more notice of the touch of others. Making change at the market, shaking hands and things of that sort became noticeable because I could feel the warmth and texture. I wonder why I had never noticed before.
The "high five" is a way of touching some one in the least possible way sort of like an air kiss.
Your hand made me think of all that.

There is so much misunderstanding and miscommunication and so many missed cues going on in the course of everyday reaching out, let alone those attempts at reaching out between whole nations and religions and...well anything at all that involves human beings I suppose. "Draw me a picture" is perhaps the best response to trying to fully understand and accept another's point of view. Or hum me a few bars...or dance me a few steps...

Why do I always think of Dungeons & Dragons when I see those hands you draw?

OF, I am glad that you share your thoughts too. Your insights are always enlightening. There is a lady down the road that when she talks, she hits me on the arm midway between the elbow and the shoulder, constantly. I'm not sure if it out of habit or for emphasis. she's really funny too but do I ever get a bruising.....

Hey Louciao, You are so right. I remember when I was a kid and being so shy, well still am, that I wished it would be possible to touch anothers hand and be able to pass all that I was thinking on to them, instead of talking. I think I hoped that when I grew up they would have had that all figured out.

Guillaume, haha..'Cause they coming to get you.

As individuals we are often searching for acceptance, reaching for a connection sometimes we find it in words. Sometimes in 'pictures' such as a drawing or sketch and sometimes we find it in touch. Whenever I see your hands, Gwen, I see the artist in you through them. So lean, long fingered like a pianist, the ability to create so many beautiful things. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Shelley .. Life is one long search isn't it. Decisions, choices and so much to discover, learn and be inspired by. sometimes it is bewildering. cheers.

Sometimes, all it takes, is a hug.
