Crows/Ravens are on my list of most loved creatures on the planet... right behind Dogs...
Sadly, Snakes and Human Beings didn't even make the list.

That is totally understandable.
Love the drawing!
I am very fond of crows, having raised a few that fell from their nests in high winds. Lovely drawing.
Corvids are maybe my favourite birds. So smart. I love this drawing.
Oh, but my favourite animal is of course the cat.
Thanks Priya, I knew you would understand. There is a snake that always comes out to sun itself by my stone stairs.. he is only 2 feet long and not poisonous but he still give me the creeps. It must be instinctual.
Penny, I always wished I would be lucky enough to raise a big Raven or a Crow. They were lucky you found them. What a great experience. Thank you.
Thanks Guillaume, I love their curiosity.
Cross-hatching is one of my favourite ways to draw. ps I love cats too!!
Cats, ravens, crows, bears.... top of my list, and many, many more.. though I do find that some humans are extraordinary! I like how crosshatching enhances the raggediness of the feathers.
This crow looks mischievous. I like him.
Big dogs, then medium-size dogs, then small dogs, then Highland cows... fill me an ark and I'll float away.
hey there Valerianna, Good list, Thanks!... I agree, there are a few extraordinary people-types But since they don't form the majority of the species ......
but hey we all know who they are, probably they are different for everyone.. otherwise stay on guard for them and value the good ones.
I love your list, Dr. Steven Doolittle! Funny ... I never had the opportunity to meet and get to know a Highland Cow... hairy and wildish, I like that.... yes for putting the Big Dogs first.. Most all Big Dogs I know are gentler and more patient than the small ones. I have some old doors you can use in your Ark.!!
Crows always interest me. They used to hold a court every few weeks in an old Elm tree opposite my house which unfortunately blew down in a storm. Then the Murder of Crows moved to tree beyond my sight.
Oh what a shame their tree blew down, Mel.. I love watching them gather in groups and and seeing which roosting spot they claim for the night.. as a matter of fact right now just after 8:30 pm, great groups are heading for one of their favourite spots in the tall spruce back on a hill behind our house. I think there are about 75 - 100 of them... and do they make their presence known!!!! but I love hearing them communicate.
Not even human beings on the list, Gwen?! But I love animals, so I know what you mean. ;o) The mystery of ravens seduces... Happy Days ((HUGS))
Yes I am sure you know what I mean Tracy.. it is tongue in cheek.. I love all the good meaning people but I don't like nasty human beings.
Animals go on instinct but humans have thinking abilities but many times, don't use them.
Mmmm, corvids. Great choice, Gwen. After cats, of course, for me.....
I love your cross-hatched crow! What an action capture.
thanks Rachel, I had my next post just completed when i received your comment... so the next cat I do will be dedicated to you.
Thanks Arija, I'd love to do a whole series of them.
the crow certainly has lots of personality; looks like the star of a children's book to me! I agree with you about the favorite animals, and yes, snakes and humans do leave something to be desired- not individuals, necessarily, but en masse, absolutely!
Thanks Sharmon, I'd really like to get over my aversion to snakes... I can't even think about them without cringing.
Love crows and ravens also! Whenever I get a chance I try to photograph them so I have a collection to draw from when sketching.
Great idea Sandy. You have some wonderful bird photographs on your blogs.
I forgot to say how much I loved this sketch.
