I am staring at a drawing of a Friend... it is at a drawing that I stare...
I had never met this friend in real life... only on this mechanical screen in front of me.
A Friend I respected, who made me laugh, who worked hard all his life and lived a good life while he was at it... who shared, who made his own kilts and wore them... spoke out about things that weren't right with the world... an inventor... a bicycle magician... sailed on battleships, flew airplanes, drove transport, knew the bayou blue and the country inside out...
He was frugal... but never with his friendship......... he was humble, possibly a hermit
and Now he is gone from walking on this earth.
We never met... but we knew each other. How do I say Good-bye?...... I can't.

Wonderful Gwen. I love this picture of him.
I needed to hang out with him a little longer.
...some "Time" therapy.
Hello Gwen
I'm sorry for your loss of this dear friend, and feel sure he would have appreciated your sketch of him. I hold you in thoughts.
Gwen, your friend would have been so very touched by this beautiful sketch.
Beautiful portrait. And now he is immortal.
This is such a loving portrait of your friend, Gwen... I'm sure he'd not find any imperfection here. :o) ((LOVE & HUGS))
... tho most of us have never met in person and prob. never will, you all mean so much to me.
Gwen, what an incredible portrait of your friend Richard... i really love this. Especially that reassuring and yet hesitant look in his eyes. What a tribute to him. You are such a wonderful artist (and friend, obviously). xox
Pauline, you are so kind. I know I never did him justice but it helped me some. xo
aww Gwen....sorry about the loss of your friend....that "Old Fool" sure had some funny stuff on his blog.... he made me laugh right out loud on several occasions....
how I love reading a blog like that....
You are right BumbleVee, he was so aware, and funny. I got the biggest kick out of the things he wrote.
We really have no idea the many ways we can touch others, when we put our words out there, do we? I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, Gwen...I visited his blog and can see why you liked his spunky ways. You have done him a fine justice with your hands to sketch and eyes to see. I like that you wear your heart on the outside.
Deborah, you are sweet. He had so much more to share with the world. I feel blessed to have made his acquaintance.
I am blinking back tears, and have never met your friend either, but what kind and gentle and wise eyes...I know you miss his presence, but he is still here with you...thank you for sharing this.
He was a bright light.
